About the Programme

The Wellywood Woman podcasts are in-depth interviews with women filmmakers and activists from around the world. They highlight creative, funding, and distribution issues and online projects like crowd funding, webseries and transmedia storytelling.

Marian Evans makes the podcasts as part of her Development project, for women who make movies and for the people who love them. Development grew out of Marian’s Creative Writing PhD about the feature film development process for New Zealand women filmmakers. It includes research, creative and activist elements, which she reports on in her Wellywoodwoman blog. Marian works closely with Kyna Morgan at HerFilm in the United States, whose global project aims to increase audiences for films by, about and for women.
