Youth Radio

Young people can make a programme at Wellington Access Radio! If you're between 13 and 25 get in touch at info@accessradio.org.nz.  It's free and we provide full training.

Tune in for a range of shows covering interesting topics, discussions, music, and a whole lot more. All from the up-and-coming talented youth of today!

  • Monday

4-4.30pm, weekly: 開嚟聽我,紐紋柴港嘢 / Cantonese - Hong Kong Gang
Mission: Cantonese is one of the widely spoken Chinese languages among New Zealand Chinese communities, as such the founding of a Cantonese channel will not only bring forth a platform to opinionate our views on New Zealand affairs and to amusingly chat about daily occurrences, it will also provide an extra option with joy and laughter for the Chinese youth and elderly to kill time.  Each broadcast will cover a theme, the content of which will encircle around our daily lives and cultural diversities in New Zealand, in the hope that our program will be both entertaining and informative should the need for discussions on solemn issues arises.

One-Off Specials

Youthline - Youthline Wellington run a gateway programme for senior students wanting to become cousellors, social workers, police, teachers, and youth workers. The students explore youth issues, ethical dilemmas, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and communication skills. As a group they identify the top issue for young people in their area. Both the Poriua/Hutt Valley and the Wellington Central group of 2016 voted mental health as a key issue in their community.

Hear what they have to say about key things to look out for in a friend, how to be a support, and where to refer young people to in either the Hutt and Porirua or Wellington Central.
