Accessibility information
Accessible Parking
There is a 5-minute drop off point on the left-hand side of the road outside our building on Ghuznee Street. There is no cut in the curb.
The parking nearby off Cuba street in not paved.
There is no dedicated accessible parking at the car park across the road from our building.
The first hour for parking costs $14 – after the first hour it costs $7p/h
Building Access
There are two glass doors on the street that open outwards to get into the building. With both open there is 118cm room to pass through.
Next to the glass door on the right there is a doorbell intercom which connects to our office. Please note that this button in 1.5 meters off the ground and is sometimes behind a glass door if the right-hand door is open.
Before 6pm one of the two doors are open. One can be opened outwards. They are heavy doors so they cannot always be opened by someone independently. Please let us know if you would like us to open both doors before your arrival.
There is an elevator on the ground floor. The elevator door is 85cm wide.
The elevator buttons are 1.4 meters off the ground.
The buttons have braille.
There is an emergency telephone button.
The door into the foyer is usually open until 5pm. Please let us know if you need it opened later.
There are two flights of steps to our level. The steps have railing.
The steps are grey concrete and are not colour-contrasted or tactile.
Our carpets are thin and suitable for wheelchairs.
Our studio doors are heavy and cannot always be opened independently. The handles are 1 meter off the ground. The studio doors are 87cm wide. There are no tactile indicators on the doors.
We have room reset posters in each of our studios that encourage our program makers to make sure nothing is left in a place that could get in the way of someone who uses a mobility aid. It also encourages people to leave two spots at the desk for wheelchair users.
We have an accessible bathroom with an accessible sign on the door. At this stage we do not have a call button fitted in the bathroom.
We have telephones you can use that are placed at an accessible height in each of our studios.
We have a quiet room with dim lighting if you require it.
Our kitchen is at the back of the building. All surfaces are at an accessible height.
Currently, none of our staff speak New Zealand Sign Language.
